We decorated amyrillis flower pots for the boy's teachers. I thought it would be a great opportunity to see how the Curio does with vinyl. I found a cute quote at the Silhouette Design Store that was perfect so I purchased the file, opened it in Silhouette Studio, and got to work.

I opened the design in Silhouette Studio and got ready to cut. The design screen is blank but I like to see the cut border and mat reference lines to make sure it's correctly placed. To show the guides, go to the DESIGN PAGE SETTINGS. Select SHOW CUT BORDER and increase the REVEAL settings. Place the design in the correct location while making sure to keep it inside the red cut border. Screens 4 4 3 – access your computer remotely backup.
While it seems daunting, the software tells you everything you need to know about the platform and blade. To find your settings, click on the BLADE ICON at the top of the screen to open CUT SETTINGS. Then scroll down to MATERIAL TYPE and click on the media you working with. That will open up a whole new screen that is chock full of information.
Pastebot 2 0. Clicking on VINYL in Material Settings tells us that we need to use all the platforms (2+2+1+mat). It also says to set the RATCHET BLADE to 1.
I use Oracal 651 vinyl for projects like this. It's permanent and cuts and weeds beautifully. Cut a piece of vinyl slightly larger than your deign and placed it on the cutting mat. To cut, scroll down to the bottom of the CUT SETTINGS screen and select SEND TO SILHOUETTE.
I was pleasantly surprised with how well the Curio cut vinyl. It did a great job, even better than my Cameo. I suspect that has to do with hard cutting platform. I won't be retiring my Cameo anytime soon because I need it for bigger projects, but for smaller ones the Curio is my new go to machine.
